For practices
Every client's books. One place.
Your practice account is free. You pay for client companies, never for people, and never for looking at a client's books.
One login, however many clients
Every other bookkeeping product makes a practice sign in per client, or buy a seat per client, or both. A bookkeeper working six clients before lunch signs in six times and keeps six tabs open to avoid doing it again.
Alwen was built the other way round. One account, every client company in it, switch between them in a click, and the books stay strictly separate - separate ledgers, separate reports, separate audit trails. The only thing shared is you.
- Separate books per client, one sign-in
- Unlimited staff at no extra cost - people are free, companies are priced
- Per-client access, so a junior sees only what they should
What is not ready, said first
A VAT-registered client cannot keep their full books in Alwen yet. VAT reaches the ledger and the return computes, but cash accounting, the flat rate scheme, partial exemption and MTD submission do not exist. For most practices that is most of the client list, so it belongs at the top of this page rather than the bottom.
Nor is Alwen approved to file. We hold Companies House test presenter credentials and their reviewer has accepted test submissions of accounts and confirmation statements, and we have opened a conversation with HMRC about Corporation Tax recognition. That is an unusual position for a product this young. It is not approval, and we will not describe it as one.
Automatic bank feeds are not contracted yet either. Statement import works today.
Welsh and English, precisely
This website is fully bilingual. Inside the application, the Companies House filing vocabulary uses the official English-to-Welsh glossary, so the statutory terms are the legally correct ones rather than our own translations - and the rest of the interface is partly translated, with the work to finish it committed and under way.
We would rather tell you exactly where that stands than claim it is finished. If a Welsh-speaking client matters to your practice, ask us what they would actually see today and we will show you.
What we would want from a founding practice
We are looking for a small number of practices to work with before public launch, and the terms are better than anything available later: your practice workspace free permanently, your first client licences free during the pilot, direct access to the person building it, and genuine influence on what gets built next.
In return we would want you to be the first line of support for your own clients, and to tell us honestly whether you would put a client on this who is not in the pilot. That last answer is worth more to us than the revenue.
Run a practice?
Tell us how many clients you look after and what you use today. We will be straight with you about what Alwen can and cannot do for them yet.
