Pricing
One price, however many companies
Everyone else charges per company. Alwen charges per person, so a second company costs nothing extra.
Founding 50
£5 per month, kept for good
The first fifty companies to join pay half, and keep that rate for as long as they stay. Not for six months. For good.
Standard
£10 per month, up to ten companies
One company or ten, the price does not move. Every feature, your accountant invited in free, and a 30-day trial before anything is charged.
Prices exclude VAT and are indicative while Alwen is in early access; they will be confirmed in writing before anyone is charged, and nothing on this site takes payment. The founding rate is capped at fifty companies and will be honoured for as long as the account stays open. Alwen cannot keep books for a VAT-registered company yet, so please read what is ready before deciding.
The maths
What three companies actually cost
Every other product on this list charges for each set of books. Move the slider.
| Product | Per year |
|---|---|
| Xero Ignite | £648 |
| Sage Accounting Start | £720 |
| QuickBooks Simple Start | £576 |
| FreeAgent | £1,188 |
| Alwen | £120 |
Competitor figures are published regular UK monthly prices excluding VAT, checked 10 September 2026, multiplied by the number of companies because all four charge per company. They are not introductory offers: Xero and QuickBooks are both advertising 90% off for six months as this is written. Cheaper entry plans exist for businesses that are not VAT registered, including Xero Simple at £7 and Pandle Pro at £5, and FreeAgent is free with a qualifying NatWest, RBS or Mettle account. Alwen cannot keep books for a VAT-registered company yet.
